Introducing the Life Sciences & Healthcare Committee at ELF
Posted by:European Law Firm

We are delighted to announce the official launch of the Life Sciences & Healthcare Committee within the European Law Firm network. This new initiative was introduced during the General Meeting in Vienna in January 2025 and is led by Mathilde Merckx from Alchimie Avocats, with strategic support from Kalina Milanova, ELF Board Member and founder of Milanova & Partners.

This Committee brings together legal professionals across Europe with a shared interest and experience in the life sciences and healthcare sectors—industries undergoing rapid transformation driven by technology, regulation, and global collaboration.

Purpose and Structure

The Life Sciences & Healthcare Committee aims to:

  • Connect ELF member firms active in the sector
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing on clients, projects, and areas of expertise
  • Collaborate on cross-border legal challenges and opportunities
  • Support ELF’s positioning as a go-to network for life sciences innovation in Europe

Key Focus Areas

  • 2025 Priority: Telemedicine

As telemedicine becomes increasingly regulated across Europe, the group has chosen this area as its initial focus. Members will contribute to a cross-border guide on telemedicine laws and opportunities across ELF jurisdictions, with the goal of publishing a comprehensive brochure by the end of the year.

  • 2026 Priority: Product Liability Directive

The upcoming changes to the EU Product Liability Directive will be the main focus for 2026, allowing members to stay ahead of the curve and provide value to their clients.

  • Additional topics will be shaped by member contributions and emerging developments in the field.

This new Committee reflects ELF’s commitment to staying ahead in key industries and fostering collaboration among its members. By combining deep sector knowledge with a cross-border perspective, the Life Sciences & Healthcare Committee is set to become a vital platform for insight, innovation, and shared success. We look forward to the valuable contributions it will bring to our network and the broader legal and healthcare communities.
